The site was marketed widely by the landlords and it attracted considerable interest. Firstly, the three main theatre-owning groups in London were the most obvious candidates; they each individually investigated the potential to turn the venue back into a theatre but, after undergoing extensive due diligence, it became evident that it would not be economically viable to do so.
Interest was then shown by several of the world's best known brands as a potential landmark retail outlet or headquarters but, once again, the very high cost of redesign and restoration deterred even the most profitable of these companies.
It was subsequently found that there is one industry that could potentially restore and adapt the existing space and which, crucially, had the necessary resources to create a profitable business from this venue going forward that fitted perfectly into 21st century London. This is the modern casino industry.
